PREVENTIVE INFORMATION ON UNCOMFORTABLE NAILS

An uncomfortable or tight nail occurs when the edge of the nail (usually on the big toe) grows abnormally and embeds itself into the surrounding skin. This can cause pain ,inflammation, redness, and ,in some cases ,an infection if not properly treated .

Common causes:
● Improper nail trimming: Cutting your nails too short. Cutting or rounding the edges can cause them to grow into the skin.
● Wearing tight shoes: Shoes that put pressure on your toes can push the nail into the skin.
● Nail trauma: Bumps or injuries to your feet can disrupt nail growth.
● Genetic predisposition: Some people have nails that naturally grow inward.

Symptoms:
● Pain at the edge of the nail.
● Redness or irritation in the affected area.
● Tenderness to the touch.
● Possible pus formation if there is infection.

Prevention:● Cut your nails straight across and not too short.
● Wear comfortable, properly sized shoes.
● Maintain good foot hygiene.
● If ingrown toenails are recurrent, it is important to choose an alignment system to avoid complications.
